Dr. Eric Boehmer

Dr. Eric Boehmer

After a successful career in human medicine as a pharmacist and nuclear pharmacist, Dr. Eric Boehmer felt called to pursue his true passion: veterinary care. Growing up in New Mexico and later living in Texas, he witnessed firsthand the urgent need for rescue care for distressed animals. This inspired him to make a significant change, leading to the founding of Animal Hospital of Colorado in 2001, with a vision to eventually support an animal rescue.

In 2008, Dr. Boehmer’s dream became reality when he launched a nonprofit rescue organization, which has since flourished into All Aboard Animal Rescue. For over 16 years, Animal Hospital of Colorado has partnered closely with All Aboard to provide essential medical care for their foster dogs—and, more recently, foster cats. Rescue animals are not just a passion for Dr. Boehmer but the heartbeat of every decision made at Animal Hospital of Colorado.

When he’s not at the clinic, Dr. Boehmer enjoys unwinding at his cabin, spending quality time with his family and their rescue pets (2 dogs and 4 cats), and riding his motorcycle.

Dr. Angelica Gifford

Dr. Angelica Gifford

Dr. Angelica Gifford, a Wisconsin native, embarked on her veterinary journey after moving to Colorado in 2011. She joined our team in 2013 as a veterinary assistant while pursuing her undergraduate studies at Colorado State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science. With a passion for animal care, she returned to CSU to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2022.

In her downtime, Dr. Gifford is an outdoor enthusiast who loves paddle boarding and is a proud Green Bay Packers fan. When she’s not cheering on her team or exploring nature, you’ll find her gaming or snuggling up with her beloved pets: Indie, a Blue Heeler; Thor, a Border Collie mix; Pixel, a Domestic Shorthair; and Korra, a Bengal. Dr. Gifford’s commitment to her patients and her joy in caring for her own pets make her a cherished member of our veterinary family.

MDVM

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, with family roots in southern Louisiana, I began my academic journey at the University of North Florida, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. I went on to receive my DVM from the University of Florida.

I initially launched my career in production animal medicine, spending three years in mid-Michigan as an ambulatory large animal veterinarian focused primarily on dairy and beef cattle. During this time, I developed a strong passion for both individual patient care and herd production health, including medicine and surgery. When my husband’s professional training took us to Lexington, Kentucky, our family expanded with the arrival of our daughter, Agnes. Transitioning from large animal medicine to companion animal care, I joined a 24-hour ER and specialty hospital during his residency, where I broadened my skills in emergency care, urgent care, and small animal surgery.

Once our training was complete, we chose to relocate to Colorado. Living in Fort Collins, I have provided emergency and primary care as a locum veterinarian across northern Colorado, and we were thrilled to welcome our son, Bruce, to our family here.

At the heart of my work is a dedication to fostering meaningful relationships. I value the practice flexibility that allows us to connect with a diverse range of clients and patients, and my primary clinical interests include surgery, preventative care, and wound management.

I am delighted to join the Animal Hospital of Colorado as my new clinical home. I look forward to making a positive impact in the local community and cultivating long-lasting connections with our patients and families.
